Evolution

Some tried and true stuff is always fun to work on...Hang Times for some custom fly clients: I have been working on some new prototyping for the 2010 season. Last weekend in Pleasanton, CA at the Fly Fishing Expo I worked the Clear Cure Goo booth. www.ClearCureGoo.com It's the BOMB. I'll certainly be featuring plenty of new creations on here using this stuff. Revolutionary. I was amazed all last weekend at how many great and well know West Coast (and beyond) dropped by to check the stuff out. If I was not so busy, lazy and distracted with actual tying and fishing I'd give a re-cap and a who's who rundown. Instead I'll indulge myself with trying to find a new bar to raise my tying envelop to...

Sorry for the poor quality video...I'm barely Janitor material when you get me away from the river...not that there is anything wrong with being a Janitor. I was and Once a Janitor - Always a Janitor.

This is some testing of Clear Cure Goo Afton Angler style. Prototyping. Serious Work...Skunk Works. Or Anti-Skunk Works if you prefer.

I'm calling this pattern SitNSpin. It's a rotating fly to be fished in conjunction with a barrel swivel and a split ring.

Evolution of the form and the idea. In my world anyway...

  3. Hey brad we spoke on the phone about the Sit N Spin pattern and lipped flies in general. I've been working on a few patterns with lips and can't seem to cure the helicoptor effect. I've tried J hooks, counter weighting, barrel swivels, split rings... So far it swims with the Rapala wabble at really slow deliberate speed but adding any change in cadence or speed and it spins in circles, any tips or suggestions? And I am definately gonna get a few of my own patterns sent out to ya to see how they do out your way.
